SPM Education | ||
Invented nearly 25 years ago, Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) has rapidly become one of the key enabling technologies propelling the nanotechnology revolution impacting fields of physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, medicine and engineering. The ability to control structures with molecular precision is enabling new fields of engineering and science that were only the stuff of dreams two decades ago. SPM is now being introduced into the undergraduate curricula as instruments are now becoming available at undergraduate schools. The purpose of this website is to be a clearinghouse for SPM experiments, techniques, labs and ideas that have been published in the scientific educational literature or developed by educators to be used primarily for educational purposes. To use this site, click on the experiments page. Experiments are divided into categories of STM Experiments, AFM Experiments, SPM Experiments and Related Topics. The year published, authors and title are listed for each experiment and each category can be sorted by either year or alphabetical author listing by clicking on the appropriate heading. If you know of SPM educational experiments, please contact me with information so that I can include new information on this site at it becomes available. | ||
